Reading is the gateway to success. When you read, you are able to subconsciously learn about sentence types, vocabulary, language devices and structural techniques. You can actually get to enjoy a book and enter another world. Doesn't that sound awesome?
Imagine that you are having a tough time and you just want to get away... Well, reading allows us to do just that. Take Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein, it shows you how a person can love a subject so much that they will toil endlessly until they have achieved their dreams BUT what if your dream actually becomes your nightmare? What if what you thought was an amazing scientific discovery becomes the bain of your existence?
You will become engrossed in the characters and the obstacles that they have to face. Their journey will teach you so much about them and you. So much so that you will begin to see your school work improve just because you're actually enjoying reading.
I hear you! What if I hate reading? Well, this is where we persevere past the first few chapters and have to try really hard at the beginning. In no time, you will start to develop a love for literature that will make you and your family proud.
At the end of the day, your success depends on you and how you approach your life. If you're unfit, do exercise and be consistent. Wow! You will become fit and more mentally sharp. The same applies to reading... If you can read consistently, you are improving your own education and putting yourself in the driving seat of your own life rather than coasting by and hoping for the best.
